History of Varolii

How It All Began...

  • Origin

Varolii founders revolutionize the notion of customer communications

Co-founders Scott Sikora and Michael Ho had the notion early on that the future of the enterprise contact center should be turned on its head. After graduating with advanced degrees at MIT, the two found themselves designing and implementing cutting-edge customer care solutions at some of the largest and most successful companies.

But no matter how sophisticated and customized the implementations were, they knew that existing technologies and processes prevented a valuable, intelligent dialog between consumers and the companies. The silos between outbound and inbound were real, straining true communications effectiveness.

  • Inception

    Varolii Incorporates

In 1999, they put their talent and expertise together and in 2000 formed Seattle-based AlertOnline, which was later renamed PAR3 Communications. They believed the future of effective and efficient interactions between companies and the customers they serve would be based on dynamic, personalized conversations. In 2000, the company hired experienced executive Nicholas Tiliacos as President and CEO.

  • New name, new company

Varolii acquires EnvoyWorldWide & changes name

In 2005, the company acquired emergency communications provider EnvoyWorldWide, a leading provider of high availability business continuity notifications. Its growth and leadership position reflected the increasing need for organizations to communicate unplanned events that threaten continuity of operations for business and government.

In 2007, PAR3 Communications and EnvoyWorldWide combined to become Varolii. The name "Varolii" is derived from the Pons Varolii. The Pons Varolii is the neural pathway that relays information between the part of your brain that controls motor skills with the part that reasons, remembers, improves, and learns. The Pons Varolii allows us to, among other things, communicate intelligently and make rational decisions to achieve the best outcome.
